The rear door 20 of a tipping trailer or the like is positioned between hollow corner posts 16 and hinged about a pivot 24 level with and forward of its upper edge 22. The door can be lifted and lowered by a hydraulic ram 34 within each corner post 16 acting on a tubular slider 26 slidable within the corner post 16 and articulated to the door by a link 28 pin-jointed at 30, 32 to the slider 26 and door 20. The pins 30 run in slots in the slides to give lost motion between the rams and the door. The rams are double acting, and are connected in series. To lock the door closed, one of the hollow posts (116, Fig. 5) carries a lever (160) pivoted externally and projecting through the post to be pivoted by a descending slider (126), the lever thus being pivoted to engage a rod (162) on the lower edge of the door. <IMAGE> |
