PURPOSE:To obtain an industrial preservative and antifungal agent, containing a pyridinium tetraphenylborate based compound and other compounds as active ingredients and capable of exhibiting excellent preservative and antifungal effects by synergistic action in a smaller amount than that in use of single agents without toxicity to humans and animals, etc. CONSTITUTION:An industrial preservative and antifungal agent obtained by containing a mixture of one of pyridinium tetraphenylborate based compounds expressed by formula I (R is H, lower alkoxycarbonyl or carbamoyl) which are partially well known as an active ingredient of underwater antifouling coatings and contain some novel compounds, e.g., tetraphenylboron-2- methoxycarbonylpyridinium complex, with one of substituted phenolic compounds expressed by formula II (m is 1 or 2) as active ingredients. The above-mentioned agent is capable of inhibiting nonselectively and eradicably inhibiting occurrence of various microorganisms, such as bacteria, yeasts, molds or algae, from vari ous industrial raw materials and products, such as coatings, organic adhesives, pastes, inks, wood, fiber or white water in producing paper, and exhibiting the effects thereof for a long period. |
