PURPOSE:To improve the wear resistance of a rocker arm by forming at least the outer surface of a roller with ceramics in a roller type rocker arm in which an abutting portion to a cam is constructed by a roller. CONSTITUTION:In a roller type rocker arm 1 in which an abutting portion to a cam is constructed by a roller 3, at least the outer surface of the roller 3 is formed by ceramics. Or the whole roller 3 is formed with ceramics. The ceramics part may be formed by ceramics sintered body or a ceramics coating layer. The ceramics is not particularly limited if it has high wear resistance and sufficient mechanical strength, tenacity, etc., but preferably, SIAlON, Si3N4, ZrO2 and SiC are used. |
