PURPOSE:To obtain a superconducting material having stable superconductive characteristics by heating compds. of a rare earth metal, an alkaline earth metal and copper to dry the compds., calcining and pulverizing the dried compds., molding and sintering the resulting powder. CONSTITUTION:When starting materials are mixed, calcined and pulverized and the resulting powder is molded and sintered to produced superconducting material, compds. of a rare earth metal, an alkaline earth metal and copper as the starting materials are dried to <=0.5wt.% water content by heating to >=100 deg.C, preferably 500-1,100 deg.C, e.g., in the air. The produced superconducting material is represented by the formula (where R is Sc, Y, La, Nd, Pm, Sm, Eu, Gd, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb and/or Lu, A is Mg, Ba, Sr and/or Ca, 0.5<=x<=1.5, 1<=y<=3, 2<=z<=4, 6.0<=w<7.0 and 0.001<=a<=0.9). |
