PURPOSE:To increase lifetime of a laser, by providing a recess or enlarged section on the inner face of a capillary opposite to a joint where the capillary is joined to a metal reservoir. CONSTITUTION:A capillary 10 has a joint 31 to which a metal reservoir 30 is joined. The metal reservoir 30 receives a metal to be supplied as metallic vapor. A recess 33 is provided on the inner face of the capillary opposite to the joint 31, so that the inside of the capillary is enlarged by this recess 33. Even if any of the metal supplied from the metal reservoir 30 is deposited on the inner surface of the capillary 10 during laser oscillation, such metal is deposited on the recess or enlarged section 33 and, therefore, it does not obstruct the path of laser light. Accordingly, it is possible to prevent variation in laser output due to long term usage, and the lifetime of the laser can be increased. |
