Haptens may be determined by a competitive binding immunometric technique in which a sample of hapten to be determined is incubated in solution with a labeled antibody to the hapten and a conjugate of the said hapten, the protein present in the said conjugate being different from that bound to the hapten during raising of the antibody. The conjugate is conveniently immobilized by binding of a non-hapten epitopes to an antibody which is linked to a solid support. The method may be calibrated by use of samples containing standard amounts of hapten. |
