PURPOSE: To work a gear with high accuracy, and correct a tooth flank by a simple method in that case by constituting a rolling step, that is, a rotating and rolling process of a workpart, that is, a feed of a Z directional grinding wheel so as to be mutually independently performed. CONSTITUTION: When a grinding wheel is fed and moved in the X direction with a first contact point 21 in an end surface area with the grinding wheel and a workpart or a tooth flank as a starting point, a contact surface on the tooth flank moves up to the other end surface 22. Here, the workpart is rotated by a rolling step S, and next, the grinding wheel performs a rolling strokeΔZ (a point 23). Then, the grinding wheel performs an reverse directional feed movement, and the contact surface on the tooth flank returns to the original end surface, and reaches a point 24. The workpart roates again by the rolling step S, and the rolling strokeΔZ is performed by the grinding wheel (a point 25). After the whole tooth flank is repeated up to being ground, an adjacent tooth is ground. When deformation of an involute shape is avoided in an end surface area, a feed movement X is performed up to a point 32 at which the grinding wheel does not contact with the tooth flank.
