PURPOSE: To easily grasp the continuous change state of long data by successively displaying current display data and continuous display data compressed by a prescribed compression rate and continued to the current display data on a display screen. CONSTITUTION: An area A on the CRT screen of a display device is a normal display area consisting of 400×400 dots constitution and displays current display data between t2 to t3 , e.g. for 10 minutes, an area B is a past direction display area continued to the area A and consisting of 120×400 dots constitution and displays continuous data compressed between t1 to t2 , e.g. for 2 hours, and an area C is a future direction display area continued to the area A and consisting of 120×400 dots constitution and displays continuous display data between t3 to t4 , e.g. for 2 hours. The display data of the areas A to C are stored in the storage areas of a memory corresponding to the display screen and the stored data are successively read out and displayed on the areas A to C. Thus the continuous change state of long data can easily be grasped.
