PURPOSE:To enhance azimuth resolving power without lowering a frame rate, by mounting a drive element selecting circuit for selecting one group of vibrators to be simultaneously driven from a large number of vibrators and constituting a plurality of scanning lines with respect to one transmission of an ultrasonic wave. CONSTITUTION:When five vibrators are set to one block to perform the linear scanning of an ultrasonic wave and the echo of the ultrasonic wave reflected from the interior of an object to be examined is received by vibrators 2, the echo signals based on the ultrasonic echos received by the vibrators No.1-No. 5 are outputted from the first receiving element selecting circuit 12a. Further, the echo signals based on the ultrasonic echos received by the vibrators No.1-No.4 are outputted from the second receiving element selecting circuit 12b. Therefore, two scanning lines are simultaneously constituted with respect to one transmission of the ultrasonic wave. As a result, since the number of scanning lines obtained by reception become twice the the number of transmissions of the ultrasonic wave, a diagnostic image excellent in azimuth resolving power can be obtained without lowering a frame rate. |
