The invention relates to a procedure for the cleaning of the filter cloth (9) in a box filter and to a box filter applying the procedure. The filter consists of a block of filter plates (1) placed oppositely in an essentially vertical position. The space between each pair of plates is the filtering space (2), which is delimited by the filter cloth and permits of being opened. For removal of the filtered material (14) and cleaning of the filter cloths (9), the filter is provided with cleaning elements (3), which comprise at least one nozzle (12) communicating with a source of compressed air, allowing a jet of compressed air (15) to be directed at the cloth, and at least one scraper for cleaning the cloth. The cleaning elements (3) can be so arranged that they move up and down in the opened filtering spaces, scraping the cloths and spraying them with compressed air when moving in the downward direction and washing them with a cleaning fluid supplied via the nozzles when moving in the upward direction. The cleaning elements (3) working in different filtering spaces (2) can be connected to each other so as to form a single apparatus that cleans the filter cloths in all filtering spaces simultaneously. |
