PURPOSE:To prevent irregular reflection due to the disturbance of a liquid level and to make it possible to measure the liquid level highly accurately, by providing a float in a guide sleeve, whose one part is immersed in liquid metal, reflecting laser light from the float, and receiving the light. CONSTITUTION:A float 1 is provided in a guide sleeve 2. The reflecting surface of the top of the float has a spherical shape. Even if the float is inclined, the shape of the exposed part from a liquid level 4 is not changed. Therefore, the reflected light of projected laser light 13 is always reflected toward a laser light emitting and receiving device 7. Since the inner diameter of the sleeve 2 is almost equal to the outer diameter of the float 1, evaporation of high temperature liquid metal can be reduced. Gas is sent from a pipe 11 with pressure and exhausted through a gas exhausting hole 5 out of the sleeve 2. Thus ascending of vapor is prevented, and clouding of the emitting and receiving device 7 can be prevented. In this way, the light 13 is projected on the float 1 from the emitting and receiving device 7, and the reflected light having sufficient amount can be received 7. The received signal is inputted into a converter 9. The level of the liquid 4 can be indicated on a display 10 in consideration of the height of the float 1 from the liquid level 4. |
