Substituted imidazoles and triazoles, useful as a fungicide, were prepd. Thus, 5.1g m-chloro-peroxybenzoic acid in 80ml dichloro methane was reacted with 3.2g 1-[(2-[1,1'-biphenyl -4-yl- 1,3oxathiolane-2-yl)methyl -1H-1,2,4-triazole in 40ml dichloro methane, refluxed for 24hr, condensed, filtered, and washed with NaHCO3 and H2O to give 3.1g 1-[(2-[1,1'-biphenyl -4-yl- 1,3oxathiolan-2-yl)methyl -1H-1,2,4-triazole S,S-dioxide.
