PURPOSE:To smooth securely a polished surface for a short time by advancing straight respective grinding portions of a plurality of grinding belts on the same horizontal level under the condition of crossing a transfer path of workpieces at different crossing angles so that the polished surface of sent workpieces contact sequentially slidably the respective grinding portions to be polished in a plurality of directions. CONSTITUTION:Polished surfaces W1 of respective workpieces W on a transfer belt 3 transferred in the direction of arrow P along a transfer path 4 are roughly polished in the direction B1 by polishing portions 7A of a first grinding belt 6A crossing the transfer path 4 at crossing angle A1 and travelling straight. Then, the respective ground workpieces W have on the surfaces a plurality of polished streaks having pointed sections and formed parallel to the travelling direction of grinding portions 7A. Next, by a grinding portion 7B of a second grinding belt 6B crossing the transfer path 4 at a crossing angle A2 different 90 deg. from the crossing angle A1 and travelling straight on the same level as the grinding portion 7A are removably ground respective pointed end edges ground streaks formed on the surface of respective workpieces W to smooth the respective ground streaks at a time. |
