PURPOSE:To prevent erroneous detection due to toner sticking to the detecting face of a sensor and erroneous detection due to excess removal of toner by attaching a cleaning member, which has gaps through which toner partially passes and has an elasticity to be able to remove toner on the front of the toner sensor to a toner agitating means. CONSTITUTION:A coiled agitator 40 as the toner agitating means is rotatably provided in a toner storage device body 38, and a comb-shaped cleaning member 47 like a thin film is attached to a straight part 40c of the agitator 40 so that its front end 49a is brought into contact with a toner sensor 46. Since the cleaning member 47 consists of a Mylar 48 having prescribed gaps G, toner acts on the detecting face of the toner sensor 46 through gaps when the agitator 40 is rotated. Consequently, erroneous detection that the absence of toner is detected regardless of the presence of toner because of excess removal of toner by the cleaning member 47 or erroneous detection that the presence of toner is detected regardless of the absence of toner is prevented. |
