A display device is provided to offer extensive expressiveness by enabling a specific shape, such as an identification pattern, to be displayed when externally incident light is emitted in a power-off state. A display device(1), which consists of the first substrate(4), the second substrate(5), and a liquid crystal layer(6), comprises a plurality of sub pixels and a display area. Each of the sub pixels has a light transmissive area and a light reflective area. Each light reflective area, composed of two different kinds of light reflective layers, is driven in a normally white mode. The display area is formed as the sub pixels are arranged in the form of a matrix. Using the light reflective layers, a shape is displayed on the display area when the display device is in a non-driving state.
