Microwave oven comprising a microwave source and means for monitoring the defrosting of a product to be defrosted placed in the oven, in order to monitor the operation of the microwave source. These means comprise a defrosting sensor placed in the oven in proximity to the product to be defrosted. The sensor comprises a substance which can heat up by absorbing the microwave energy, the passing of the product to be defrosted from a frozen state to a defrosted state leading to a decrease in the microwave energy picked up by the substance of the defrosting sensor, and an increase of that picked up by the product to be defrosted. The substance is thermally isolated, so that the sensitivity of detection of the temperature variations remains constant through several defrosting stages. <IMAGE>
