The invention relates to a main sail winder provided at the rear with a fixed screw 6 and inside, at the front, with a telescopic sleeve 11 secured to the spindle. The screw is secured to the rear flange 4 and the nut 8 is fixed to the end of the winder. When rotationally driven by the pulley, via the internal sleeve, the winder moves over the screw by one pitch per revolution. It is held on axis by a guide tube located around the screw and slides lontigudinally over the sleeve. The sail bolt rope winds up with adjoining turns.
