In a vehicle having a brake hold control function, an ECU releases the brake hold control if an actual accelerator open degree A is greater than a predetermined open degree A (0). As shown in Fig. 6, an ECU calculates the increase rate of a drive force required by the vehicle after releasing the brake hold control to be a greater value as the elapse time T after release of the brake hold control becomes longer and as the actual accelerator open degree A becomes larger.
