PURPOSE:To facilitate the manufacture, to make the apparatus compact, and to improve resolving power, by making the recording head equipped with a plurality of nozzles laterally arranged reciprocate very finely. CONSTITUTION:A recording head 50 connected with an ink tank 3 via an ink supply tube 2 is held on a frame 4 so as to reciprocate laterally, i.e., in the main scanning direction via rollers 5. The recording head 50 is coupled with a voice coil motor 9 consisting of an air-core coil 6, a spring 7, and a magnetic circuit 8 that controls them. The voice control motor 9 is a drive mechanism making the recording head 50 reciprocate only by micro-distance: its microdisplacement is 0.1mum and its frequency responsiveness is 5msec. Therefore, if the displacement of the voice coil motor 9 is controlled in synchronism with a pulse impressed voltage to the recording head 50, continuous printing between ink nozzles 54 is possible even with large gaps of the nozzles in the recording head 50. It is unnecessary to form ink nozzles 55 and ink cavities with high density with respect to a piezoelectric plate 51, and the processing time is reduced for improvement economy. |
