The invention relates to a plastic bottle crate, consisting of a bottom and four side walls which have a cutout below an upper terminating strip. The object of the present invention is to secure bottles placed in the bottle crate against being removed and to fix the hood used for this purpose in the bottle crate in such a way that no bottles can be removed through the lateral openings either. Furthermore, it is the object of the present invention to simplify the possibility of applying a seal and to make the fit of the sealing tapes more secure. The invention consists in that slots which are open towards the top are formed directly next to the side walls in the inner walls or on projections located on the inner sides of the side walls, which slots serve to receive the lower edge of a hood which is made of cardboard and is to be inserted in the bottle crate.
