The brushes (20) are attached to metal carriers (16) which also form the conductors linking brushes with the machine connections. These are the brush support rods (14). In order to give a good electrical contact between the brush carriers and the support rods the cupped ends (23) of the carriers (16) are angled to produce two contact points (24). The angle (alpha) between the flats (24) which form the contact points is pref. 30 deg. - The required pressure between brush and collector (10) is provided by a spring clip (22) which bears against an insulation piece (21) on each brush carrier.
