PURPOSE:To permit beautiful connection to be effected without generating a step in a connected part, by a method wherein the ends of foam sheets are pinched by attracting and supporting them by a pair of attracting devices, having a flat attracting surface, while the ends of two sheets of superposed foam sheets are cut by a heat cutting and welding device. CONSTITUTION:A multitude of suction ports, communicated with suction devices 3, is bored on flat attracting surfaces 31, attracting and supporting the ends 1a, 2a of foam sheets 1, 2 by evacuation. When the attracting surfaces 31 is shut off opposingly to each other by an opening and closing device 4 for opening and closing the attracting surfaces 31 by pivoting the suction devices 3 into opposite directions about the axis of the widthwise directions of the sheets, a sheet inserting gap C is formed between the attracting surfaces 31. A heat cutting and welding device cuts the sheet ends 1a, 2a, which are forced out of the suction devices 3 when the ends 1a, 2a of two sheets of foam sheets 1, 2 superposed in the sheet inserting gap C are inserted and pinched, and heats and melts the cut surfaces of the sheets. |
