In a process for reclaiming (recycling) polystyrene-based plastic waste, the plastic waste is converted into a solution by treatment with a solvent. Bulky waste can thereby be converted into a space- saving form. The resultant solution has adhesive properties and can be used as a universal adhesive. Removal of the solvent from the solution allows the plastic material to be recovered in compact form and converted into reusable granules.
