PURPOSE:To remove organic substances contained in active carbon, to improve removing capacity for P, and to enable suitability for blood circulation by using an adsorbent prepd. from active carbon added with MgO-TiO2 compound having a specified compound ratio. CONSTITUTION:Alkoxides of Mg and Ti are mixed and solubilized in aq. soln. of an acid such as HNO3, etc. After dipping active carbon in the soln., the adsorbate is hydrolyzed with alkali such as NH3, etc., to obtain a precursor of the adsorbent, and an adsorbent of this invention is obtd. by calcining the precursor at 300-700 deg.C. The adsorbent comprises active carbon contg. an MgO- TiO2 compound adsorbed thereto, and preferred proportion of MgO/TiO2 expressed in terms of molar ratio is 99.99/0.01-80/20, and preferred amt. of the MgO/TiO2 compound adsorbed to the active carbon is 1-10wt.%. Suitable active carbon is spherical active carbon having 0.1-1mm mean particle size and 500-2,000m<2>/g specific surface area, etc. |
