COLD SHIELD FOR INFRARED DETECTOR

PURPOSE:To prevent stray light and background light from being incident on a light receiving area and to make the sensitivity of an infrared detecting element high by tapering the flank of an infrared-ray transmission substrate and providing a light shield body on the flank of the transmission substrate. CONSTITUTION:The flank 11A of the infrared-ray transmission substrate 11 is tapered by machining such as slanting grinding and reflecting preventive films 12 are formed on the top and reverse surfaces of the substrate 11. Further, a light shield film 14 is formed on the side of the reverse surface of the substrate 11 opposite the infrared detecting element except an opening part 13 and a light shield film which has a opening part 13B larger in area than the opening part 13A is formed on the top surface of the substrate 11. Further, the light shield film 14 is formed on the tapered flank 11A of the substrate 11 and the background light and stray light are prevented from being incident from the flank.
