ELECTRICALLY POWERED UNIT WITH INTEGRALLY FORMED BATTERY

An electrically powered combined emergency and night light unit (10) has an integrally formed battery (42). The battery shares the housing (12) of the unit. The unit includes electrical circuitry for recharging the battery. The electrical circuitry includes a silicon controlled rectifier which is turned on by a photosensor to provide an automatic night light function. The electrical circuitry also includes a detector to sense the absence of applied exterior electrical energy such that an emergency light (28) of relatively high illumination can be automatically turned on.
