PURPOSE:To feed effectively electricity to only required beams, by alternately connecting hybric couplers of each step of a Butler matrix for forming beams in the directions of row and line from the 1st step. CONSTITUTION:Each of hybrid couplers 12a of the 1st step of a Butler matrix 12 for forming horizontal beam is connected to the output of a flat array antenna 11 under a row-to-row condition and each of hybrid couplers 13a of the 1st step of a Butler matrix 13 for forming vertical beam is connected to the output under a line-to-line condition. When such arrangement is made, a feeding system to an antenna output of (8X8) is separated into four sets of (4X4). Then hybrid couplers 12b and 13b of the 2nd step are connected to the output of a certain set and the feeding system is separated into four sets of (2X2). When a desired antenna beam is fixed, outputs of prescribed sets of each step are combined at a prescribed phase difference at phase shifting and combining circuits 14a...14c. |
