Ashtray for motor vehicle - has automatic emptying device consisting of fan which is switched on when ashtray lid is closed

The motor vehicle is equipped with an ashtray (1) which is fitted with a hinged lid (1b). The ashtray (1) has a hole (1a) at its lowest point. This hole opens into a flexible hose (2) which is connected to a container (3) mounted in the engine bay. The container (3) has a filter or grill (6) fitted in an opening (3a) in its side wall with a fan (4) mounted outside the wall and aligned with the opening (3a). When the lid (1b) of the ashtray is closed it actuates the switch (5) which starts the fan. A time switch shuts the fan down when the ash and cigarette ends have been drawn into the container (3). USE/ADVANTAGE - Removal of tobacco odours from the interior of the vehicle.
