CONVERTED CONNECTION CONSTITUTION BETWEEN MIC AND WAVEGUIDE CIRCUIT

PURPOSE:To decrease the number of component parts and to reduce the cost, by connecting an MIC (microwave integrated circuit) and a waveguide on the rear side of a substrate which constitutes a microstrip antenna. CONSTITUTION:A strip antenna is connected to a waveguide on the rear side of a substrate which constitutes an antenna, and therefore a waveguide short mechanism is provided on the upper side of the substrate in order to obtain the maximum electric field of the antenna part. Thus the short mechanism doubles the function of a cover plate to eliminate the use of a special spacer. An MIC is fixedly stored at a cut part 5 of a metallic block substrate 4. A waveguide connecting part 7' at the tip of the substrate 4 has a large length so that the field intensity is maximum at the tip of an antenna 3 with a connection of a short block 14 in which the length of a waveguide 8' doubles a part of the cover plate. A waveguide 6 is connected at the lower part of the connecting part 7' on the rear side of a substrate 2 containing the antenna 3. Another cover plate 11' covers the area which is not covered by the block 14.
