This device comprises, on the one hand, on each support 3 a transverse and horizontal peg 12 and, furthermore, opposite each support an unlocking lever 4 hinged at 5, the body of which is connected to elastic return means tending to lie flat under the table top and the free end of which is fitted with a gripping tab 15 and two forks 16 designed to cap the peg 12 which is in the moved-away "use" position.
