Striker boring tools which are of hardened steel transport the striking energy in their axial direction. Fatigue cracks occur in the areas of very intensive dislocation movement, partic. those where there are sharp corners. - In order to counteract this, the tool is subjected to an abrasive treatment which leaves the surface polished. It is then seen that where loads are applied to the tool in the ranges of 2 to 4.5 tons, and 2 to 5 tons, the number of load changes before breakage occurs are more than 10 power 6. |
