The invention relates to a device for internal combustion engines, especially in motor vehicles, for warming the intake air needed for combustion. For this purpose, a heat exchanger, fed with cooling liquid, is provided in the path of the intake air and a second heat exchanger is assigned to the exhaust system, by way of which warmed air from outside can be directed against the housing containing the control element for the through-flow of intake air or the fuel-air mixture and, if necessary, against the carburettor housing, a heat sensor being provided in at least one of the housings, which controls the feed of warm air from the second heat exchanger so that the temperature of the fuel-air mixture remains approximately constant.
