发明名称 THERMAL TRANSFER RECORDING MEDIUM
摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal transfer recording medium having a high electrothermal speed with little energy loss and capable of multi-gradational recording, by providing an anisotropic conductor layer, a heat generating resistor layer a return circuit electrode layer and an ink release layer on a base in a laminate form. CONSTITUTION:A base 10, supporting thereon an ink layer 15 comprising a thermoplastic high molecular weight substance as a main constituent, has a laminate structure comprising an anisotropic conductor layer 11, a heat generating resistor layer 12, a return circuit electrode layer 13 and an ink release layer 14. The anisotropic conductor layer 11 comprises a granular material having a volume resistivity of not more than 10<2>OMEGA.cm and a melting point of not more than 500 deg.C, the material being so disposed as to have a fixed area density and fixed by a resin having a volume resistivity of at least 10<10>OMEGA.cm. This medium, having the resistor layer 12 and an ink layer 15 close to each other, enables high-speed printing. In addition, since the anisotropic conductor layer is provided, loss due to dispersion of electric currents is reduced, and recording with high positional accuracy of dots is achieved with low energy. Further, expression of at least three levels of density can be performed by controlling the quantity of the ink being transferred, through intensity modulation of input signals.
