Shut-off valve for pressure vessels, particularly for high-pressure gas bottles, in which a sealing diaphragm (34) clamped by its outer edge in the housing is arranged between the valve-closure piece (19) and the pressure piece (27) of the actuating device (14). To ensure that the gas pressure acting on the sealing diaphragm is not transmitted in its entirety to the threaded spindle (30) of the actuating device (14), the pressure piece (27) has a smaller diameter (d) than the freely movable part (34a) of the sealing diaphragm (34) and is guided in an intermediate plate (28) which, on its side facing the sealing diaphragm (34), has a concave diaphragm-supporting surface (36) against which the diaphragm (34) comes increasingly to rest from the outside inwards as the valve is opened.
