PURPOSE:To eliminate a residual color even in case of rapid processing by processing a black-and-white photosensitive material with a stabilizing soln. or washing water contg. a specified compd. CONSTITUTION:A black-and-white silver halide photosensitive material is exposed, developed, fixed and processed with a stabilizing soln. or washing water contg. one or more kinds of compds. represented by formula I. The amt. of a replenisher for the stabilizing soln. or washing water is preferably regulated to <=2l per 1m<2> photosensitive material and the total processing time to <=90sec. In the formula I, A is a group of atoms. required to form a 3--8-membered ring contg. at least one among O, N, S and Se and M is H or a counter cation. A compd. represented by formula II, etc., may be used as the compds. represented by the formula I. Even when rapid processing is carried out with a small amt. of the replenisher, a residual color due to a sensitizing dye can be reduced. |
