PURPOSE:To record a sharp image by making the forming position of a toner chain always almost constant, by fixing a recording electrode and forming the toner chain extending from the leading end part of the recording electrode until contacting the surface of a recording member so as to incline toward the downstream side in the moving direction of the recording member. CONSTITUTION:The first magnetic roll 21 rotates in the direction shown by an arrow A to generate an alternating magnetic field and the toner 1 in a receiving container g is supplied to the region between a recording electrode 4 and a recording member 72 by the action of the magnetic field. The toner 13 falling on the recording member 72 is fed to the recording electrode 4 and bonded to toner 131 by the action of the magnetic force of a permanent magnet 6 to form a toner sump on the upstream side of the leading end part of the recording electrode 4. A toner chain 14 is formed along the line of magnetic force of the strong static magnetic field generated in the recording region. The toner of the lower part of the toner chain 14 is cut against magnetic force Pm by toner feed for Ft to be allowed to flow down toward the downstream side. The toner 16 having charge induced therein is strongly bonded to the recording member by an integrated circuit 42 and moves toward the downstream side of the recording region by the rotation of a drum.
