The invention relates to a clamping device for the weights on a weight-lifting bar, intended to be mounted on a weight-supporting tube (3) journalled to the end of a weight-lifting bar (2) for clamping one or a plurality of weights in a substantially fixed position longitudinally of a weight-lifting bar between an abutment at one end of tube (3) and body (1) of the device. For a clamping effect, said body (1) is provided with a movable actuating means (8) adapted, by means of members (10, 11, 15), to be clamped to the surface of weight-supporting tube (3) and tightened into position to provide a clamping effect together with body (1). A particularly characterized feature of the invention is that said actuating means (8) is adapted to be movable and tightenable in a direction substantially inclined relative to the longitudinal direction of the bar in a manner that its moving direction forms an acute angle relative to a point of action (9) on said actuating means (8) and its counter-point on supporting tube (3). According to one embodiment of the invention, said actuating means (8) is fitted in a bore (7) made in body (1) and extending slopingly therethrough or in an inclined-bottom groove (19) made inside the body and its displacement or tightening is effected by means of an operating member (10, 11), a lever or the like with its axle, as well as by means of a displacement member (15), a cam or the like, fastened or journalled to axle (11). Operating means (10) can be mounted either on axle (11) or on displacement member (15). According to one embodiment, said actuating means (8) is provided by flexible members (1a, 1b), tongues or the like, partially separated from body (1) and which, through the action of operating means (10, 11), displacement means (23, 28, 29), threads or the like, can be shifted and tightened towards each other for clamping the device together with body (1) around tube (3). |
