PURPOSE:To efficiently execute registration and assembly by pressing both ends of tape traveling surfaces of plural heads to a transparent substrate and aligning the heads in the gap array direction while interference fringes are kept checked at the timing of registering the tape traveling faces to each other. CONSTITUTION:A relief part 4 is provided to the magnetic heads Hw, Hr to prevent the contact of the gap parts G... thereof with each other. Both faces 5... of the gap side faces of the respective magnetic heads Hw, Hr are pressed to the transparent substrate 3 from the rear face thereof and the interference fringes of the contact part are observed. The heads Hw, Hr are then so registered that the gap positions align to each other. The plural magnetic heads Hw, Hr and a leaf spring 9 are inserted between the opposite surfaces 7 and 8 of a frame 6 for assembling the plural heads Hw, Hr and an adhesive agent is previously coated between the read head Hr and the write head Hw. The heads Hw, Hr are then registered by loosening a screw 10 and the adhesive agent is allowed to cure after the screw 10 is tightened. The position of the tape traveling surfaces is hardly deviated at the time of the registration operation in the gap array direction and the exact and efficient assembly operation is carried out. |
