Treatment of residues from the sugar manufacturing industry with a view to obtaining a solid extract of high sulphate content and a liquid output stream with a high content of organic matter. In this process the feed stream passes successively through at least two concentration stages 52, 62, 85 arranged in series. At least two separators 102, 103; 70 are used; the first 102, 103 being fed by the last concentration stage 85 and providing the liquid output stream and a return stream which is recycled upstream, the second 70 being fed by any concentration stage other than the last and supplying at 73 the solid output extract and at 74 a mother liquor which is recycled into the treated stream. <IMAGE> |
