The invention relates to an infinitely variable conversion of torque for bicycles in which the transmission of the drive force from the tread crank to the rear wheel is effected by means of electrical conductors. The invention has the purpose of providing torque conversion which is problem-free to an extreme degree and absolutely safe. In order to achieve this object, the tread crank is connected to a generator with gear system. By means of the gear system, the generator is given the required speed of rotation. The rear wheel of the bicycle is connected to an electric motor. The electric motor transmits the drive force either to the tyre of the rear wheel or to the axle of the rear wheel by means of a roller. In the latter case, a downstep gear is required. A battery supplies the additional current when travelling over inclines in order to achieve the torque conversion. In addition, the battery supplies the power for lighting whilst travelling or stationary.
