This invention relates to a process for preparing a polyoxyalkylene compound particularly useful as a lubricant of synthetic fibers, comprising reacting in the presence of a base catalyst at least one alkylene oxide with a blend of diethylene glycol and a Bisphenol A component selected from the group consisting of Bisphenol A and the reaction product of one mole of Bisphenol A with 1 to 10 moles of propylene oxide and mixtures thereof.
