PURPOSE:To obtain a Zn substitution treating soln. for an Mg alloy hardly causing recrystallization and having a long service life by preparing an aq. soln. contg. a pyrophosphate and zinc acetate. CONSTITUTION:This Zn substitution treating soln. for an Mg alloy is an aq. soln. contg. a pyrophosphate such as sodium pyrophosphate or potassium pyrophosphate and zinc acetate. The soln. has a prolonged service life and enables large-scale treatment. Since the soln. has improved recrystallization resistance, the soln. prepd. in large quantities can be stored over a long period. Potassium pyrophosphate having high solubility is advantageously used as the pyrophosphate. A soln. prepd. by adding 23-69g zinc acetate and 78-240g potassium pyrophosphate to water so that 1l aq. soln. is obtd. and by adjusting the resulting soln. to 10.4-10.8pH is suitable for use as the treating soln.
