PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of reading or writing errors or faults or the like by arranging a cleaning means for removing impurities stuck to a magnetic recording band in front of a contact position with a magnetic card. CONSTITUTION:In an information recorder 10 for a magnetic card 1 obtained by forming a magnetic recording band 2 on a thin and plane carrier to record information, the cleaning means 18 for removing impurities stuck to the band 2 is arranged in front of the contact position with the card 1. The card 1 inserted into the recorder 10 is passed through contact members 83, 84 fixed approximately rectangular to its advancing direction. The members 83, 84 are longitudinal and elastic and impurities such as dust, trash and oil, etc., stuck to the surface of the magnetic stripe 2 are scraped by the tips of the members 83, 84. Consequently, the information can be surely written and read out and the generation of faults can be prevented.
