In order to produce a grating, in particular from copper or aluminium, slats consisting of flat material are provided with through-bores, through which tubes are plugged. The tubes are then compressed between flat slats, with the result that deformation of the tubes takes place, this providing a press fit with the flat slats. A copper grating comprising flat longitudinal slats (12) to (18) and tubular transverse slats (20) is particularly suited as a walk grating on a roof. <IMAGE>
