Device for measurement of the intraocular pressure by the impression tonometer principle, it being possible to use this device simultaneously for determining the changes in the wall tension of the eyeball (impression comparator). The object is to improve the position-dependent impression tonometer according to Schlötz, and it is achieved in that the gravity-dependent pressure of the piston and the foot plate is replaced by a gravity-independent spring mechanism. The measurement process and reading of the values found are separated. It can be applied for measuring the intraocular pressure in the middle of the cornea and for determining the eyeball tension on other accessible parts of the eyeball.
