PURPOSE:To extremely reduce the falling off of super abrasive grains and improve the durability of a polishing belt by forming an abrasive grain layer which is formed by dispersing the super abrasive grains in a metal plating phase, on the surface of a conductive belt body. CONSTITUTION:A belt body (metallic belt) 1 having conductivity is wound on the outer periphery of a pillar type body. And, conductive bodies which make conduction with the belt body 1 are provided in the vicinity of both sides of the belt body 1 over the whole length of the belt body 1. On the other hand, an anode plate is placed being separated at the same distance from the belt body 1 and the conductive bodies to electrically deposit a metal plating phase 4 in which super abrasive grains 3 are dispersed, forming an abrasive grain layer 2. The super abrasive grains 3 of thus formed abrasive grain layer 2 are held by the metal plating phase 4 having high strength. As a result, the falling off of the super abrasive grains 3 can be extremely reduced while the super abrasive grains 3 themselves are also hard to be worn, thereby, markedly improving the durability of the polishing belt.
