PURPOSE:To prevent the deformation of a sheet member at the time of stopping by providing guide structures which are linked to each other so as to be relatively moved in the mutually opposite directions with the center of a conveying passage as the center and applying a pressing force only at the time of transferring. CONSTITUTION:Since free rollers 2a, 2b are obliquely provided, they receive a surface frictional force which rotates them in the advancing direction Ya, Yb of a sheet member S while simultaneously receiving frictional forces in directions Za, Zb perpendicular to the advancing direction. Hence, the free rollers 2a, 2b generate reactional forces Fa, Fb against the frictional forces in the width directions Za, Zb. And, due to these reactional forces Fa, Fb, guide plates 3a, 3b are drawn toward the center C-C' side to apply pressing forces to the edge parts of the sheet member S, guiding the sheet member S to the center. When the sheet member S is stopped, on the other hand, since the reactional forces Fa, Fb of the free rollers 2a, 2b become zero, the pressing forces against the edge parts fail to be applied.
