PURPOSE:To obtain an AC generator for rolling stock with improved waterproofing in a slip ring, by interposing a sealing member between a brush holder and a housing. CONSTITUTION:A sealing member 33 is an elastic member such as rubber, etc., composed of a sealing ring 33a and a sealing piece 33b projecting from a sealing ring 33a radially. A sealing ring 33a is moulded in U-shape in section, the groove of which is fitted into an edge of a cylindrical cover 7. On the other hand, the sealing piece 33b is moulded in an approximate U-shape in section and is fitted into the side of a holder 4. In assembling a generator, the sealing member 33 is arranged to be interposed on the sides of the holder 4 and between an edge of a cylindrical cover 7 and a rear housing 1a. The sealing piece 33b is situated so as to interrupt pinholes 8 and 9. A slitting 34 is set up so that it will coincide with pinholes 8 and 9 when the sealing member 33 is set. In completing the assembly of the generator therefore, the submergence from the exterior of housing can be prevented.
