The present invention relates to a device for electrical locking, and unlocking by breaking of the current and which, in addition to the conventional use as an electric lock, may also and especially be mounted on emergency exit doors, in order to control them. A cut in the current generated, either by a fire detection apparatus, or by any other alarm, or quite simply by a building attendant, is sufficient for the electromagnet to cease its holding action. The bolt, whose profile has a double slope, then slides along its latch and is retracted under the action of pressure on the door, which opens effortlessly. <IMAGE>
