The invention relates to an incandescent lamp socket, consisting of a screw sleeve (1), connecting block (3) and connecting mandrel (2), through whose perforation (6) on the cover side the electrical connecting cable (4) passes, which cable (4) can be connected to the connecting block (3), is guided in a supporting tube (7) which holds the socket and is surrounded in a protective manner in the transition between the socket and the supporting tube (7) by an insulating sheath (8) which is mounted such that it is concentric in a tubular manner and is supported on the inside of the socket over the edge of the perforation (6) by means of an annular plate (10) seated thereon, and said invention proposes, in order to optimise the assignment reliability that the insulating sheath (8) is at the same time the support for a clamping wedge (17) which is constructed as a strain-relieve element for the electrical connecting cable (4) and can be pressed into the gap (Sp) between the small sheathing tube inner wall (9) and the outer surface of the electrical connecting cable (4), such that the latter is protected against slipping, from the end of the supporting tube (9) on the inside of the socket. <IMAGE>
